Forward – 247 head of stock including 2 Cattle, 209 Sheep and 36 Pigs.
PIGS
Sows much the same this week, market topped by new vendors R Fisher & Sons, Fitling at 63.8p/kg or just a penny shy of £235 with a little run of really well finished sows.
Bacon Pigs to 161p/kg and £160.20, average 161.0p/kg.
Heavy Gilts to 90p/kg and £132.30, average 87.5p/kg.
Cull Sows to 63.8p/kg and £234.99, average 60.1p/kg.
Cull Boar to 62p/kg and £184.76.
SHEEP
Another good show of sheep again this week, with trade topped at £171 by super pen of 51kg Charolais X Lambs from J C Aconley & Sons, Brandesburton, purchased by Yorkshire Halal, Ossett. Ewes over £200 this week for a single Texel, built like an ox and the last of M H Galtrey & Son’s, Keyingham as they go out of sheep after a long time in the game, p/kg market this week amongst ewes topped by Graham Blyth of Roos with a smart ewe, not the biggest but well finished and will have killed out very well.
Spring Lambs
Standards to 333p/kg and £130, average 326.0p/kg.
Mediums to 353p/kg and £155, average 337.6p/kg.
Heavies to 347p/kg and £171.
SQQ 334.3p/kg.
Store Lambs to £80, average £80.
Cull Ewes to £201, average £129.36.
Feeding Ewes to £104, average £92.00.
CATTLE
Just a couple of store cattle in today on a real hay making day, Angus & Shorthorn steers about 15 months old but with plenty of growing still to do and looking a very decent trade stood in the pen.
